Log Event Flow Between Services
A Transport Contract — also called a Log Point — defines how a source and destination Service exchange messages. It ties together specific Message Types and Endpoints.
Each service sends or receives messages through its configured endpoints. These endpoints can differ by type — for example, one may use a file share while another uses SFTP.
When a message flows through the system, it generates Log Events. These events capture key information, including:
- Timestamps
- Message status
- Payload content
Example Flow: From Service A to Service B
The diagram below shows a typical flow of a message between two services. It highlights how endpoints, services, and message types work together to generate log events in your integration landscape.
The message originates from Service A via a file-based endpoint. It is received by Service B via an SFTP-based endpoint.
Note
When Service A sends the message, it’s logged as outbound. When Service B receives it, it’s logged as inbound.
In Nodinite, this is reflected in the Endpoint Direction and Event Direction properties.
Even though it’s the same message, the Endpoint Types on each end may differ. This distinction is key for correct tracking and analysis.
