Manage License

View and manage your Nodinite license information directly from the Web Client Administration portal.

Overview

The Manage License feature provides administrators with easy access to current license details, expiration monitoring, and the ability to update product keys when needed.

Important

Nodinite 7.1.0 and later: License management is performed directly in the Web Client Administration portal under AdministrationSettingsManage License.

Nodinite 6.x and earlier: License management was performed in the Install and Update Tool (now deprecated).

Automatic License Renewal

Nodinite simplifies license management with automatic renewal during updates:

  • When you download a new version from the Nodinite Portal, the system automatically checks your license expiration date
  • If less than 32 days remain before expiration, a new product key is automatically generated and included with the download
  • Manual license updates are rarely needed - typically only for extending POC trial licenses or emergency renewals

Tip

Keep your Nodinite installation up to date to benefit from automatic license renewal. Manual product key updates are primarily needed for trial extensions.

The Manage License page displays comprehensive license details:

How to Update the Product Key

Manual product key updates are rarely needed due to automatic renewal. Follow these steps to update a license manually:

Step 1: Obtain a New Product Key

  1. Log in to the Nodinite Portal
  2. Navigate to your product downloads or license management section
  3. Generate or download the new product key
  4. Copy the complete product key string to your clipboard

Note

The product key is a long encrypted string. Ensure you copy the entire key without truncation.

Step 2: Enter the New Product Key

  1. In the Nodinite Web Client, navigate to AdministrationSettingsManage License
  2. Verify the Customer Name matches your license (case sensitive)
  3. Paste the new product key into the Product Key field
  4. Click the Save button to apply the new license

Enter the complete product key string. If expired, generate a new key using the Nodinite Portal link.

Step 3: Verify License Update

  1. Check the Expiration Date field updates to the new expiration date
  2. Verify License Validity shows as Valid
  3. Confirm any license tier or feature changes are reflected

Common Use Cases

Extending a POC Trial License

Trial licenses typically have shorter expiration periods. To extend a trial:

  1. Contact your Nodinite account manager or support team
  2. Request a trial extension with justification (additional evaluation time needed)
  3. Receive the new product key via email or the Nodinite Portal
  4. Follow the update steps above to apply the extended trial license

Emergency License Renewal

If your license expires before the automatic 32-day renewal window:

  1. Access the Nodinite Portal immediately
  2. Download the latest version to trigger license generation
  3. Apply the new product key using the steps above
  4. Schedule regular updates to prevent future expirations

Troubleshooting

License File Not Accepted

Symptom: Error message when saving the product key

Common causes:

  • Customer Name mismatch - The customer name is case sensitive and must match exactly
  • Truncated product key - Ensure the entire encrypted string is copied
  • Wrong environment - Product keys are tied to specific environment names
  • Expired key - The product key itself may have expired before being applied

Solution:

  1. Verify the Customer Name field matches your license certificate exactly (check case sensitivity)
  2. Re-copy the product key from the source, ensuring no characters are missing
  3. Confirm you're updating the correct Nodinite environment
  4. Generate a fresh product key from the Nodinite Portal if the key is expired

License Validity Shows "Expiring Soon"

Symptom: Warning indicator in License Validity field

Solution:

  • If less than 32 days remain: Download the latest Nodinite version from the Nodinite Portal to automatically receive a renewed license
  • If more than 32 days remain: No action needed - the warning is informational
  • For trial licenses: Contact support to extend the trial period before expiration

Cannot Access Manage License Page

Symptom: Menu option not visible or access denied

Solution:

  • Verify you are a member of the Administrator Role
  • Contact your Nodinite administrator to request proper permissions
  • Check that you are logged into the Web Client with appropriate credentials
