Monitoring Features

  • Automatic Discovery
  • State Evaluation - Based on user-defined thresholds (fixed or percentage)
  • Category-based Monitoring - Organize different types of Disks; monitored Resources are grouped by Categories.

State Evaluation for Disks

Monitored Disks are displayed within Nodinite as Resources. For example, if you have 3 physical Disks, you will have 3 Resources in Nodinite.

  • The name of the Resources comes from the type of monitoring and volume label:

    • Free space for C: => Free space C:\
    • Free space for D: => Free space D:\
  • All monitored Disks belong to one of the following Categories:
    |Category|Description|
    |:---:|---|
    |Disk|Ensure the Disk is operational and the free space is within user-defined monitoring thresholds|
    Categories

  • The Application name is the Display Name from the configuration of the monitored Windows Server:

Each item (presented in Nodinite as a Resource), is evaluated with a state (OK, Warning, Error, Unavailable).

From within Nodinite, you can reconfigure the state evaluation on Resource level using the Expected State feature.

Note

Depending on the user-defined synchronization interval set for the Windows Server Monitoring Agent, there might be a delay before Nodinite Web Client/Monitor Views reflects the change. Click the Sync All button (or use the dropdown for individual agent selection) to force Nodinite to request a resynchronization.

Monitoring Disks

For each Disk, the monitored state evaluates as described in the table below:

State Status Description Actions
Unavailable Service not available Service not available If the server can't be reached and evaluated either due to network or security-related problems, or if the specific Disk does not exist Review prerequisites
Error Error state raised Error state raised The Disk has too low free disk Disk Chart, Edit
Warning Warning state raised Warning state raised The Disk has too low free disk Disk Chart, Edit
OK Online Online The Disk is accessible and is within user-defined monitoring thresholds Disk Chart, Edit
