How do I grant my users access to IBM MQ monitoring?

Empower your teams with secure, self-service access to IBM MQ monitoring using Nodinite. This guide shows you how to:

  • ✅ Delegate access to IBM MQ monitoring for business and technical users
  • ✅ Use Monitor Views to control and filter what users see
  • ✅ Enable self-service actions like enable, inhibit, purge, and view details
  • ✅ Propagate alerts to external systems for proactive response

Follow these steps to configure Nodinite for seamless, role-based access to your IBM MQ monitoring data.

Info

This guide assumes you have already installed the agent and deployed one or more IBM MQ Queue managers.

Example #1: Hello IBM MQ

This step-by-step example demonstrates how to provide self-service access for your users. The guide references shared pages and illustrates the process—adapt names and settings to fit your environment.

Info

You must have the Administrators Role to perform these steps.

Step 1: Create a Monitor View

First, follow the generic instructions to Add or manage Monitor View.

  1. Create and name the Monitor View
  2. Assign user rights
  3. Select the Monitoring Agent Configuration for your IBM MQ Monitoring agent
  4. Save the Monitor View (!)
  5. Click the 'Show' button

Your IBM MQ will soon appear as Resources in the Monitor View you just created.

Tip

If you add more IBM MQ Queues, Nodinite will automatically discover and, depending on your Monitor View filters, add them to the list.

Step 2: Manage your IBM MQ

Enable, inhibit, purge, and view details for IBM MQ Resources directly in the Monitor View. For more, see the Managing IBM MQ Monitoring user guide.

Step 3: Propagate Alerts

Optionally, push alerts outside Nodinite whenever a state changes in one or more IBM MQ Resources. Learn how to distribute alerts on the 'Alarm Plugins' page.
