Move an existing Article onto a Document Profile
New 7.11
Your older Articles deserve the same clean structure as the new ones. Choose a Document Profile for an existing Article and Nodinite wraps your text in the shared header, footer, and sections — without losing a single word.
- ✅ Bring an older Article into your team's structure in a few clicks
- ✅ Keep all your text: it moves into the Article's Main Body
- ✅ Switch profiles safely — nothing is merged or deleted without your say
When you need this
The knowledge base has Articles written before your team agreed on a structure, and you want them to look and read like the rest.
What you need
- Edit access to the Article, through your Role.
- The Document Profile your team uses (see Give every Article the same structure).
Do it
- Open the Article and click Edit.
- In Document Profile, replace No profile (free-form Article) with the profile your team uses.

Every Article has the Document Profile field; empty means a free-form Article. - Read the confirmation, which explains what happens to your text, and confirm.

The confirmation tells you which sections are kept before anything changes. - Your current text is now in the Main Body section. Fill in any other editable sections, check the live preview, and click Save.
What you'll see
The same Article, now with the shared header, sections, and footer around your text — exactly like every other Article using that profile. Your original text sits in the Main Body section, untouched.

The original text moved into the Main Body; the shared sections around it are Profile-managed and read-only.
Switching from one profile to another
Sections with the same name in both profiles keep their text. Any section that has no place in the new profile is listed in a red banner. For each one, choose Move to put the text into another section, or Delete to drop it. Changed your mind? Click Undo — nothing happens until you save.

Save stays disabled until every listed section has been moved or deleted.
If it doesn't work
- Save stays disabled: a section in the red banner still needs Move or Delete, or a Required section is empty.
- Not sure where a section belongs? Ask the Article's owner or your documentation lead before deleting anything.
- Still stuck? See Support.
