Can I create multiple BPM views over the same log data?
Quick Answer
Yes. A BPM is a drawing on top of your Log Events, not a copy. Nodinite matches each interchange to every BPM that can display it, so one order shows on an executive, an operations, and an audit view at once. Nothing is logged twice.
Two settings narrow what a user sees:
- Roles: users see only BPMs their Role can access.
- Associated Log Views New 7.11: a BPM limited to some Log Views is searched only through those.
Understanding Automatic Matching
one O2C order] --> M{fa:fa-shuffle Automatic matching} M --> E[fa:fa-chart-line Executive view
3 milestones] M --> O[fa:fa-gears Operations view
all 7 steps] M --> A[fa:fa-scale-balanced Audit view

Log View association] -.narrows.-> M style LE fill:#2678BD style M fill:#E47528 style E fill:#93d16d style O fill:#93d16d style A fill:#93d16d style R fill:#9E59BB
One set of events (blue) is matched (orange) to every BPM that can show it (green); Roles and Log View associations (purple) narrow it.
A BPM can display an event bound to a Service in one of its cells (through its Transport Contracts); the Log View group-by key, such as Application interchange id, keeps one interchange together. See How does BPM correlate events?.
Example: Three Views of Order-to-Cash
The Order-to-Cash demo centers on INT1337 - Order-to-Cash Flow, with 7 steps across Sales, Planning, Logistics, and Finance. A second BPM, O2C - Received and Invoiced (Simplified example), uses just two of the same Services, and the same interchange shows on it with no extra configuration:

Two events of one order on a two-step BPM: Order Received in Sales and Order Invoiced in Finance, the same events the full BPM shows across seven steps.
Draw as many views as your audiences need:
| View | Audience | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Executive | Management | Three milestones: Order Received, Order Delivered, Order Invoiced |
| Operations | Integration team | All 7 steps, Portal, ERP, WMS, and ERP-Finance |
| Audit | Finance and compliance | Order Entry and Order Invoiced, with Custom Metadata such as owner and SLA |
Order PIC-20261009-1644-0010 failed at Confirmation Sent: red on the operations view, while the executive view shows Order Received green and the later milestones gray.
Where Users See the Views
A grouped Log View offers every BPM the user's Role can see that matches the events. BPM Log Search shows only the BPM the search started from.

In a grouped Log View, each group's BPM menu lists the BPMs that match its events.
Symptoms and Fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| A BPM doesn't appear for a group | The user's Role has no access to that BPM | Grant access in the Role |
| A step stays gray on one view | No event is bound to the Service in that cell | Check the Service's Transport Contracts |
