Uninstalling the Nodinite Azure Logic Apps Logging and Monitoring Agent

Remove the Nodinite Azure Logic Apps Logging and Monitoring Agent from your environment. This guide walks you through each step, highlights common pitfalls, and provides troubleshooting resources to ensure a seamless experience.

What you’ll achieve with this guide:

  • ✅ Uninstall the agent using Windows tools or the MSI installer
  • ✅ Prevent unwanted alerts and configuration issues
  • ✅ Access expert troubleshooting and support resources

Understanding the Uninstall Process

The agent is more than a program on a server: Nodinite also holds a Monitoring Agent configuration for it, and the agent publishes Resources (subscriptions, Resource Groups, Logic Apps, failed runs) that your Monitor Views use. Remove the Nodinite side first, then the program.

Method Nodinite version Status
Portal-based PowerShell script v7 ✅ Recommended
Add or Remove Programs, or the MSI file v6 ⚠️ Legacy, deprecated

Nodinite version 7

Preferred Method: Portal-Based PowerShell Script

In Nodinite v7, the Portal-based PowerShell scripts automate agent uninstallation. This modern approach:

  • ✅ Automates agent removal via PowerShell commands
  • ✅ Removes multiple agents simultaneously with consistent settings
  • ✅ Eliminates manual uninstallation steps and reduces human error
  • ✅ Centrally manages uninstallation from the Portal

The scripts come from the same Portal workflow as Install Nodinite v7 and Update Nodinite v7.

Nodinite version 6 (Add or Remove Programs - Legacy)

Warning

The Add or Remove Programs uninstallation method for Nodinite v6 is deprecated and will be retired. Upgrade to Nodinite v7 for the modern Portal-based scripted uninstallation experience.

Before You Uninstall

Important

Remove Nodinite configurations BEFORE uninstalling the agent to prevent errors and maintain a clean environment.

Required Configuration Changes

  1. Remove Resources - Delete all Resources associated with this agent from Monitor Views
  2. Remove Monitoring Agent Configuration - Delete the Monitoring Agent entry from Administration (Add or manage a Monitoring Agent Configuration)
  3. Update Monitor Views - Remove any filters by Category, Application, or specific Resources from this agent
  4. Stop logging in Azure (optional) - Azure keeps sending events to the Event Hub until you remove the Diagnostic Settings; see Enable Logic Apps Logging in Azure and Manage Diagnostics Settings

What Happens If You Skip This?

If you uninstall without removing configurations:

  • ❌ Users receive continuous error alerts - Monitor Views will show "unavailable" errors for missing resources
  • ❌ Monitoring Agent appears broken - Configuration shows as unavailable in Monitoring Agents list
  • ❌ Monitor Views display errors - Any view filtering by this agent's resources will fail
  • ❌ Cleanup requires manual intervention - You'll need to log into Nodinite to remove orphaned configurations
