DaysToKeepMessageDataDefault - System Parameter

The DaysToKeepMessageDataDefault System Parameter determines The default number of days to keep bodies/payload in an event. This value is assigned to new message types as its default. The Logging Service must be restarted if this value is changed.

The Logging Service can create new Log Databases as they grow either too old or too large.

We at Nodinite recommend that you set a small number like 14 days (default proposition in the Install and Update Tool).

If you log more than you delete, you will eventually fill the Log Database until it either gets slow, or out of disk space.

Nodinite does not have a problem with large volumes of logged data since we create new databases as the old ones get too large. You will eventually get into the problem, or at least the administration with having disk space for all that you choose to keep. Nodinite has a very clever solution to help you keep what matters and that is by deleting events based on content (actually the datatype for the message, which we happen to call a MessageType).

System Parameter Name Data Type Values/Example Comment
DaysToKeepMessageDataDefault integer 14 (days) Default = 14 (14 days)

This feature comes with Nodinite version 2
