Resources Overview

Resources are the foundation of both operational monitoring and business process visualization in Nodinite.

The Resources Overview in the 'Monitor Management Menu' is where a Nodinite Administrator manages Resources.

Resources are part of the Monitoring topic and a key feature of Nodinite Monitoring Agents. Resources serve dual purposes:

  • Operational Monitoring - Include Resources in Monitor Views for real-time health tracking and Remote Actions
  • Business Process Visualization - Tie Resources to Services which can be placed in BPM steps for business context

This dual role means one Resource provides both technical monitoring and business process visibility. Read the Resources topic to understand these concepts before continuing.

In the Resources Overview you will find a sortable list of Resources that stem from Monitor Agents to manage. An extensive list of Resources can swiftly be narrowed down using powerful filtering capabilities.

Filtering Resources

The Resources Overview provides multiple filter options to help you quickly find specific Resources:

  • Text Filter - Type characters to search Resource names
  • Monitoring Agent - Filter by the Monitoring Agent that discovered the Resource
  • Category - Filter by Resource Category for logical grouping
  • Application - Filter by Application association
  • Status Code - Filter by operational status
  • Auto Healing State - Filter by auto-healing capability status
  • Custom Metadata - Advanced filtering using custom fields (grey button)
  • Show Deleted - Include deleted Resources in the list (checkbox)

Custom Metadata Filtering

Click on the filter button with the icon to open the Custom Metadata filter panel. This allows you to filter Resources based on custom fields defined in your Nodinite configuration.

This powerful feature allows you to filter by business-specific attributes beyond standard fields.

Tip

Combine multiple filters simultaneously for precise results. For example, filter by Application + Category + Custom Metadata to find specific Resource subsets.

Resource Hover Information

Hover over any Resource in the list to display additional metadata without opening the Resource details:

  • Created Date - When the Resource was first discovered
  • Modified Date - Last update timestamp
  • Monitor Views Count - Number of Monitor Views where this Resource is included

Note

The Monitor Views count helps identify which Resources are actively monitored and where they appear in operational dashboards.

Manage Resources

Each Resource in the list has an Actions button that provides access to management operations and detailed information.

Available Actions

The Actions menu offers the following operations:

Edit Resource

Modify Resource properties including name, description, Category, Application association, and Custom Metadata fields.

Edit Action
Edit option opens the Resource configuration panel.

Tip

Resources are typically auto-discovered by Monitoring Agents. While you can edit metadata and associations, core technical properties are managed by the agent.

Delete Resource

Remove a Resource from active monitoring. Deleted Resources can be restored using the Show Deleted filter and Restore action.

Warning

Deleting a Resource removes it from all Monitor Views where it's included. Use Monitor Views action to check usage before deletion.

View History

Display the complete change history for the Resource, showing all modifications with timestamps, user information, and field-level change details.

Note

Change history is essential for compliance auditing and troubleshooting configuration issues.

Monitor Views

To view which Monitor Views include this Resource, click the Monitor Views action. This opens a list of all dashboards where the Resource is actively monitored. Monitor Views Action

Click the chevron to expand the list and navigate directly to any Monitor View for further management or inspection.

Use this action to:

  • Identify operational dashboards monitoring this Resource
  • Assess impact before making changes or deletions
  • Navigate directly to Monitor Views for dashboard management
  • Verify Resource is included in expected monitoring configurations

Tip

The Monitor Views count shown in the hover tooltip (see Resource Hover Information) provides a quick indicator, while this action shows the complete list with navigation links.

Restore (Deleted Resources Only)

Restore a previously deleted Resource back to active status. This action only appears when viewing deleted Resources using the Show Deleted filter.

Restore workflow:

  1. Enable Show Deleted checkbox in filters
  2. Locate the deleted Resource in the list
  3. Click Actions → Restore
  4. Resource returns to active monitoring and is re-added to previous Monitor Views (if still configured)
