Install Nodinite RabbitMQ Monitoring Agent

RabbitMQ Monitoring Agent v7.0.4 and later should be installed using the Nodinite Portal-based scripted installation. This modern approach provides automated installation and configuration with minimal manual intervention.

  2. Select RabbitMQ Agent in the Agents configuration tab

Deprecated: The MSI-based installation method is legacy and intended only for remote server installations where the Portal-based approach cannot be used. This method is not recommended for new deployments and will be retired in future versions.

Important

Version 7.0.4+ Users: If you are installing RabbitMQ Monitoring Agent v7.0.4 or later, use the Portal-based installation method instead. The MSI approach below is for legacy v6 installations or remote servers only.

When to Use MSI Installation

Use this method only if:

  • You are installing on a remote server that cannot be managed via Portal scripts
  • You are maintaining a legacy v6 environment (upgrade to v7 recommended)
  • You have specific infrastructure constraints preventing automated installation

MSI Installation Prerequisites

Before you begin

  • Ensure you meet all prerequisites for a smooth installation.
  • You must be a local administrator to install Windows Services.

Step 1: Start the installer

Double-click the MSI file to launch the Nodinite RabbitMQ Monitoring Agent installer.

Step 2: Welcome Screen

When the MSI launches, you'll see the Welcome screen.

Click 'Next' to proceed or 'Cancel' to exit.

Custom Setup

Choose components and the installation location. The default settings are recommended for most users.

Step 3: Accept End User License Agreement

You must accept the terms of the End User License Agreement to proceed. Ensure you have the authority to install and modify the target environment.

Step 4: Custom setup

Select the components to install and the destination path.

Click 'Next' to continue or 'Cancel' to exit.

Step 5: Service Account Information

Enter the credentials for the Account that will run the Nodinite RabbitMQ Monitoring Agent.

  • Domain: Enter the domain name. For local accounts, use the server name or a dot (.)
  • User: Enter the account name
  • Password: Enter the password

The account must have 'Log on as Service Right'.

Insufficient privileges
If you see an error, the account may lack the required rights or local administrator status. Follow the How to set Logon as a Service right guide and retry. If issues persist, check credentials and restart the installer.

Check the local event log for errors (System and Application).

Step 6: Ready to install

Once all preparations are complete, click 'Next' to begin installation or 'Cancel' to exit.

Step 7: Completed setup

The installer will indicate either a success or a premature exit.

Click Finish to exit the installer.

Step 8: Add Agent as a new Monitoring Agent Configuration

After a successful setup, your default text editor opens a README.txt file with instructions for adding the agent as a Monitoring Agents. This file is [re]generated on each successful start.
