How to Update the Nodinite Install and Update Tool

Before You Begin
- Administrator Rights Required: You must be a local administrator to install or update Windows Services.

Check Your Current Version
You can find your current version of the Install and Update Tool at the bottom left of the menu pane:

Download the Latest Version
If your environment has Internet access, download the latest version directly from the Install and Update Tool. Otherwise, download it from the Nodinite Portal.
To download from within the tool:
- Click Package Management in the menu.
- Select Install & Update Tool.
- Review the release information displayed.
- Click Download package to get the latest version.

To download from the Internet, ensure the following addresses are whitelisted (TCP port 443):
Access to the Nodinite Portal is also recommended.
Step-by-Step Update Process
Step 1 – Start the Installer
Double-click the downloaded MSI file to launch the update process.
Start the update by running the MSI installer.
If prompted by a security warning, click Run to continue.

Step 2 – Welcome Screen
Upon launching, the installer displays a Welcome screen.

Click Next to proceed or Cancel to exit.
Step 3 – Accept the End User License Agreement
Review and accept the EULA to continue.

Step 4 – Custom Setup
Select all features for the update and use the existing installation location. Sticking with the default settings is recommended.

Note: Changing the installation location will result in loss of your previous configuration.
Click Next to continue or Cancel to exit.
Step 5 – Service Account Information
Enter the Service Account credentials required for the Install and Update Tool:
- Domain: Active Directory domain name (use

for local accounts) - User: Service Account username
- Password: Service Account password
Note: The Service Account must be a local administrator and have permission to run as a service.

Click Next to continue or Cancel to exit.
Insufficient Privileges
If you receive an error about insufficient privileges, the account may lack the required permissions. Ensure the account can run as a service and is a local administrator. See the How to set Logon as a Service right guide for help.

Step 6 – Complete the Setup
The installer will indicate whether the update was successful or if it exited prematurely.

Click Finish to exit the installer.
After setup, your default browser will open the Web Interface for the Install and Update Tool.
