ReservedArticleTagNames - System Parameter

The ReservedArticleTagNames System Parameter lists the reserved tag names that Nodinite never copies onto a new Snippet created from a selection. Administrators use it to protect tags that carry special meaning — such as marking a Snippet as part of a seeded example or a Template — from spreading onto every Snippet an author creates from selected text.

How It Works

When you select text in an Article and turn it into a new Snippet, the wizard prefills the new Snippet's tags from the source document's tags — except any tag whose name matches an entry in ReservedArticleTagNames. Those tags are silently skipped, so seeded or system-managed tags don't spread onto every Snippet an author spins off.

Note

The comparison is by tag name, not by tag id — adding Confidential to the list reserves every tag named Confidential, regardless of which document it first appeared on.

What happens to a tag that's already on a Snippet before it's added to this list?

Nothing. ReservedArticleTagNames only filters what Create Snippet from selection prefills onto a new Snippet — it never removes a tag from an existing document.

Does this affect tag merge or manual tagging?

No. It only applies to the automatic tag prefill when creating a Snippet from a selection. An author can still add a reserved tag name manually, and the tag merge dialog in Snippets is unaffected.
