How do Search Field Links speed up troubleshooting?
Quick Answer
A Search Field Link turns a value extracted from a logged message into a link to external systems. You give it a URL template with a {value} placeholder, and Nodinite puts the Search Field value in its place. One click from a failed order opens that order in your ERP.
Links don't correlate events; the Log View and the BPM do that (see How does BPM correlate events?).
Understanding Search Field Links
O2C order] --> SF[fa:fa-magnifying-glass Search Field
Order Number = ORD-10010] SF --> T["fa:fa-link URL template
.../orders/{value}"] T --> X[fa:fa-building Order ORD-10010
in the ERP] style LE fill:#2678BD style SF fill:#E47528 style T fill:#E47528 style X fill:#93d16d
The Search Field Expression extracts the value; the link template turns it into a URL.
Set Up a Link
An administrator configures links on the Search Field; see Add or manage Search Field.
- Open the Search Field, for example Order Number from the Order-to-Cash demo, and click Edit in the Search Field Links section.
- Add a link: a Name users click, such as "Open in ERP", a URL template such as
https://erp.example.com/orders/{value}, and an optional Description tooltip. Enabled turns it off without deleting it. - Enter a Test Value, click the link icon on the row to check the target, then confirm and save.

The O2C demo's Order ID Search Field links each order number to the order in the ERP.
One Search Field can have several links: an Order Number can open the order in the ERP and the invoice in ERP-Finance. A shipment number Search Field can open the carrier's tracking page. A link can even point back into Nodinite (BizTalk MessageId example).
Where Users Click
In the event Details pane, under Search Field Values, the value becomes a link, and a link icon next to it shows the link's name and description on hover. The Details pane is the same in a Log View and when you expand an event in BPM Log Search, so the links are there in both.

From the BPM to the ERP: expand the Order Received event, and the order number opens the order in the ERP.
In the Order-to-Cash demo, order PIC-20261009-1644-0010 failed at Confirmation Sent. Support searches the order from the BPM, expands the failed event, clicks the order number, and lands on the order in the ERP.
Why It Helps
- One click to the business record: no copying order numbers between systems.
- No URLs to remember: users don't need to know how the ERP builds its links.
- Set up once, works for every event: every event with a value gets the link, including historical events after a re-index.
- No integration changes: it's configuration, not code.
Users still need access to the target system; the link opens the page, it doesn't log them in.
